An Online Course for New Postpartum Moms
Postpartum Mental Health Course: Reclaim Your Life After Birth
An Evidence-Based Postpartum Mental Health Course for Pregnancy, Postpartum & Early Motherhood
You don’t have to navigate postpartum anxiety, intrusive thoughts, depression, or overwhelm alone.
If motherhood feels harder than you expected—if you feel anxious, disconnected, overstimulated, or like you’ve lost yourself—this course will help you find your way back.
Reclaim Your Life After Birth is a psychologist-led, self-paced online course designed to support your mental health during pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)—an evidence-based approach that helps you feel more grounded, present, and aligned with what matters most.
Through over an hour of guided video content, experiential exercises, a downloadable workbook, and bonus meditations, you’ll learn practical tools to navigate the emotional realities of motherhood with greater flexibility and self-compassion.
Because the goal isn’t to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings—it’s to change your relationship to them so you can move toward a meaningful life, even in the midst of motherhood.
You imagined motherhood would feel different. Instead, you might be:
✓ Constantly anxious or on edge
✓ Overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts or “what ifs”
✓ Feeling disconnected from yourself or your old life
✓ Struggling with mom guilt, comparison, or pressure to “do it all”
✓ Experiencing mood swings, irritability, or rage
✓ Feeling exhausted, touched out, or overstimulated
✓ Wondering, “Why is this so hard for me?”
You’re not alone. Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) affect up to 1 in 5 women—and many more silently struggle with the emotional weight of motherhood.
What this course will help you do:
Using ACT, you’ll learn how to:
◇ Unhook from distressing thoughts (including intrusive thoughts)
◇ Stop fighting your emotions—and start relating to them differently
◇ Reduce anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional reactivity
◇ Practice mindfulness in real-life moments (not just meditation)
◇ Let go of unrealistic expectations and “perfect mom” pressure
◇ Reconnect with yourself beyond motherhood
◇ Clarify what truly matters to you now
◇ Take small, meaningful steps toward the mother—and person—you want to be
Not a pain-free motherhood… but a full, meaningful one.

Why ACT?
Most approaches focus on trying to:
✖️ Stop anxious thoughts
✖️ Eliminate difficult emotions
✖️ “Fix” how you feel
But the more you try to control your internal experience, the more stuck you often feel.
ACT offers a different path:
✅ You don’t need to control your thoughts to feel better.
✅ You don’t need to eliminate anxiety to be a good mom.
✅ You can feel hard things and still move toward what matters.
This is called psychological flexibility—and it’s the foundation of long-term mental health.
Created by a Licensed Psychologist who gets it.
Hi, I’m Dr. Carissa Gustafson.
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in maternal mental health—and I’m also a mom.
After experiencing pregnancy complications, birth trauma, loss, and postpartum anxiety and depression myself, I shifted my clinical focus to supporting women through this exact season of life. This course combines:
· Clinical expertise in ACT and PMADs
· Real-life understanding of motherhood
· Evidence-based tools used in therapy, made accessible.
This course is for women who are:
◇ Pregnant, postpartum, or in early motherhood.
◇ Struggling with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, or overwhelm.
◇ Feeling lost in the transition to motherhood.
◇ Wanting evidence-based tools—but not necessarily ready for therapy.
◇ Looking for support that is compassionate, realistic, and grounded in science.
A different kind of support
This isn’t about becoming a “perfect” mom.
IT’S ABOUT:
✓ Making space for the pain
✓ Letting go of the struggle with your thoughts
✓ Building a life that feels meaningful—even in the messy moments
Because motherhood can be overwhelming, beautiful, exhausting, joyful, lonely, meaningful, and hard—all at once.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.
